Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Dürr

We urgently need plans for
lifestyles which enable a worthwhile, ecologically sustainable life. Such
plans are available if we really want it. Everybody is asked to help conceptualizing
this change and work on its implementation
The Right Livelihood
Award
The Right Livelihood
Award was created by Jakob von Uexküll, onetime member of the European
Parliament and grandson of the biologist Jakob von Uexküll (1864-1944)
He endowed the "Right Livelihood Award" (the name Uexküll
gave it) by the sale of his valuable stamp collection. The Right Livelihood
Award is conferred on persons, organizations and representatives of movements
who provide practical guidelines and models for the right lifestyles.
It does not reward scientific excellence but goes to persons and small
groups who have demionstrated how big challenges can be met with small
resources. These solutions to problems show the way to a better future
and motivate people to emulate these models and contribute to the creation
of our future.
GCN founder and chairman
of the board Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Dürr received the Right Livelihood
Award in l987.
